About Capitol

Computer Engineering Technology

Goals

The main objective of the Computer Engineering Technology program is to produce graduates who will be able design, troubleshoot and program computer based systems.

Objectives
Analytical Objective
Graduates will be able to employ theoretical principles, mathematical techniques and software tools to analyze computer and electronic systems performance and capability.
Design Objective
Graduates will be able to design circuits for both digital and analog applications, including programmable systems.
Communications Objective
Graduates will be able to effectively communicate their ideas in both written and oral form with the understanding that communication is a cooperative process.
Collaboration Objective
Graduates will be prepared to work in groups and distributed teams.
Life-Long Learning Objective
Graduates will recognize that life-long learning is essential to the ongoing process of professional and personal development.
Profession Ethics Objective
Graduates will have an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities, as well as an understanding of the possible social, economic, cultural and environmental impact of their engineering solutions in a global context.
Management Objective
Graduates will be able apply project management principles to plan and implement computer engineering projects.
Project Planning Objective
Practical Objective
Graduates will be able to take a computer based software or hardware design project from inception to completion including recognizing the problem and designing a solution. They will be able to build, test, modify and verify that the solution meets system requirements.
Research Objective
Graduates will have strong information literacy and will possess the ability to know when information is needed, how to use it, and how and where to retrieve it.
Technical Objective
Graduates will able to use modern circuit testing equipment including computer based systems in maintaining and modifying existing electrical systems.

These objectives are reviewed periodically for currency and relevancy by the department and its faculty, addressing input from the industry through our industrial advisory boards and Capitol College alumni.
