EE-359 High Frequency Circuit Design
GOALS
- To understand how to design, simulate, build and test high frequency circuits.
- To learn an industry standard program such as Ansoft Designer to design and simulate microstrip circuits.
- To design according to a set of given specifications such as gain, noise figure and bandwidth.
- To become proficient in the use of S-parameters of active and passive devices.
- To acquire an understanding of microstrip circuit board construction including component selection and soldering.
EXPECTED OUTCOMES
- Student will be able to design a high frequency circuit to meet specifications
- Student will be able to use industry standard software to assist with the design and simulation of high frequency circuits.
- Students will be able to build their circuits using a microstrip milling machine both by hand and through programming
- Student will be able to use industry standard equipment to test their circuits
- Student will be able to perform analysis using s parameters
- Students will write laboratory reports and present results.
OUTCOMES ASSESSMENTS
- Students will show their understanding of design through written exams and laboratory assignment
- Students will prove their understanding of the software through laboratory exercises and homework
- Students will be tested on their knowledge of s parameters through exams, quizzes and homework
- Student will show their ability to build microstrip circuits by demonstrating their technique to laboratory personnel.
- Student will be graded on their communications through laboratory reports.
