Management of Information Technology

Goals

The general mission of the Bachelor of Science in Management of Information Technology (BSMIT) program is to provide students with a strong academic foundation preparing them for positions in business and industry.

The primary goal of the BSMIT program is to produce systems thinkers with both management expertise and technical competence.

Objectives
Communication Objective
Graduates will be able to effectively communicate their ideas in both written and oral form understanding that communication is a cooperative process.
Analytical Objective
Graduates will be able to evaluate organizational conditions using a system perspective and good judgment to make informed recommendations on actions to be taken.
Research Objective
Graduates will have strong information literacy, possessing the ability to know when it is needed, how and where to retrieve it and how to use the information.
Presentation Objective
Graduates will be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver persuasive analysis and defend and support their analysis and recommendations.
Practical Objective
Graduates will have the ability to apply effectively the acquired skills and knowledge to contemporary organizational environment.
Liberal Arts Objective
Graduates will possess broad education in culture, history, philosophy, and aesthetics in order to be fully contributing members of both their professions and their communities.
Ethical and Social Objective
Graduates will have an understanding of their professional and ethical responsibilities.
Graduates will have an understanding of the possible social, economic, cultural and environmental impact of their business solutions in a global and social context.
Lifelong Learning Objective
Graduates will recognize that lifelong learning is essential to ongoing process of professional and personal development.
Outcomes
  • Graduates will be prepared for roles as IT managers, as I.T. managers, administrators, or other positions of general management responsibility.
  • Graduates will be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of PC hardware and networking technologies, software and software life-cycles, and information security.
  • Graduates will be able to understand global and national laws, regulations, and customary expectations as they relate to management of information technology.
