Program-specific Requirements

Generally, to apply to a graduate degree program, you should have completed a bachelor's degree or be completing a bachelor's degree prior to enrollment and should have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher.

Some master of science programs have additional technical competency requirements as follows:


Computer Science

A B.S. in computer science or equivalent is recommended but not required. Students who do not have a B.S. degree in computer science or equivalent must have the following undergraduate course work:

  • Programming equivalent to Capitol College course CS-230 Computer Science Fundamentals II:
    1. Programming (C++ or Java recommended)
    2. Object-oriented programming (classes, objects, inheritance, and polymorphism)
    3. Data structures (queues, stacks, lists, linked lists, trees)
    4. Sorts and searches
  • Mathematics equivalent to Calculus I through Linear Algebra:
    1. Capitol College course MA-261 Calculus I
    2. Capitol College course MA-262 Calculus II
    3. Capitol College course MA-330 Linear Algebra

    Note: Students with Differential Equations, instead of Linear Algebra, will need departmental advising.

Electrical Engineering

 


A B.S. in electrical engineering or equivalent is recommended but not required. Students with an accredited B.S. in a related field will be considered for admission under the provisional status. Students must demonstrate successful undergraduate course work in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics equivalent to Calculus I through Laplace and Fourier Analysis (these Capitol College courses or equivalents):
    1. MA-261 Calculus I
    2. MA-262 Calculus II
    3. MA-330 Linear Algebra
    4. MA-340 Ordinary Differential Equations
    5. MA-345 Probability and Statistics for Engineers
    6. MA-360 Laplace and Fourier Analysis
  • Engineering and science prerequisites (these Capitol College courses or equivalents):
    1. EE-406 Signal Processing
    2. EE-453 Control Theory
    3. EE-362 Microprocessors
    4. EE-401 Communication Theory
    5. Familiarity with MATLAB.

Internet Engineering

Internet engineering students are expected to have exposure to object-oriented programming.

Master of Business Administration

For full acceptance, students must:

  1. Have a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Complete a Capitol College application package.
  3. Have the computer skills necessary to participate in online classes.
  4. Have demonstrated satisfactory performance in at least one of the following:
    Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) with minimum cumulative score of 450, or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with minimum cumulative score of 1000, or A 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale during the junior and senior years of the baccalaureate degree. Special consideration may be given to applicants who show graduate potential and have a minimum of 5 years of professional or business experience.
    Have completed undergraduate coursework in statistics and economics.

Information Assurance

Information assurance students are expected to have a foundation knowledge of TCP/IP, routers, hubs, and related areas.
