Welcome to the Critical Infrastructures and Cyber Protection Center at Capitol College. Through multi-institutional projects, continuing education, and outreach programs designed to support government and industry, CICPC supports individuals and organizations seeking solutions to issues facing our nation within the broader context of homeland security.
Attention to critical infrastructures and cyber protection has increased dramatically within recent years. Federal and state government agencies, communities, and America's infrastructures have developed extensive programs and initiatives to meet today's security challenges. However, the majority of critical infrastructure entities are owned and operated by the private sector or by state and local governments, not by the federal government. Although many of these communities have initiated measures to protect their vulnerabilities, the need for integrated cooperation and assurance testing remains enormous. Community and state-wide testing and interoperability are paramount to successfully securing our nation’s infrastructures.
Two areas are vital to the success of infrastructure security:
As a center of gravity for educators and thought leaders in physical security, critical infrastructure support, and cyber security, a major strength of the CICPC is our ability to effectively cultivate strategic alliances. Several peer institutions that share the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Centers of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education designation have joined us in this effort. These partners include Southern Methodist University, University of Dallas, University of Maryland University College, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and the University of Texas San Antonio. We will continue to actively engage other federal agencies and industries, including NSA and DHS, because the security issues facing our nation will not be solved in isolation, but rather through collaboration.
I encourage you to learn more about our programs as detailed throughout this website. Please contact us with any questions.
