Centers of Excellence
With a focus on practical and relevant education, a mission to support and build upon the pipeline of technology and engineering professionals regionally, and a need to reach out to all levels of students on the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, Capitol College has a need for strong institutional centers of excellence. The initiatives below are each an integral part of the Capitol mission, and provide learning opportunities, facilities, and services for our students.The Center for Space Science Education and Public Outreach provides hands-on education and workforce development experiences for students in K-12, community colleges, colleges or universities and those who support them in achieving leadership careers in the STEM fields.
An interdisciplinary center, the Critical Infrastructures and Cyber Protection Center at Capitol College has a mission built on education, training and awareness to enhance the security of critical infrastructures as well as physical and cyber infrastructures all over the nation. The CICPC offers education and training for information assurance professionals exclusively online.
The Innovation and Leadership Institute offers programs designed to build the technical and social skills of young people and working adults who want to succeed in technology entrepreneurship and leadership careers. The ILI sponsors the Capitol President’s Forum, seminars, conferences and symposia.
Established in 2002 with a grant from NASA, the Space Operations Institute is a consortium of NASA, industry, government and education partners. Students involved in SOI have the opportunity to manage satellite operations and receive hands-on experience that will prepare them for careers in all aspects of the aerospace industry.
