Keeping Higher Education Affordable

January 4, 2012

As each year passes, new students are faced with the increasingly high cost of college education in the United States. This, coupled with the number of employers requiring college degrees, has left a large number of students shouldering the load of inflating tuition and student loans.

But because earning a college education is essential for many to attain their dream careers, Capitol strives to keep its degree programs affordable for all its students.

First, Capitol College offers a tuition lock that ensures students pay the tuition rate set at their time of enrollment for up to five years. Therefore, students never have to worry about the price of their education increasing, as long as they complete their degree within five years. The college has also been able keep undergraduate tuition increases to less than 3.5% for each of the past seven years.

Another perk for Capitol students is the new alumni discount. Starting in the Fall 2011 semester, Capitol College began offering a 10% discount on all of its master’s degree programs and graduate certificates to new alumni applicants.

Students also don’t have to worry about paying for an entire semester up front, either. Those who are unable to pay their tuition balance in full at registration are eligible to enroll in Capitol’s deferred payment plan, which breaks up payments throughout the semester.

Capitol is also pleased to offer great benefits to active duty military members, veterans and their families. The college participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which allows qualifying veterans to attend Capitol tuition-free. Maryland National Guard members are also privy to a 50% tuition reduction.

Additionally, Capitol’s job placement guarantee maintains that all qualified bachelor’s degree graduates will find employment in the fields of engineering, engineering technology, computer science, information technology or business with a competitive salary within 90 days of graduation, or students will be provide up to 36 additional undergraduate credits, tuition-free, while they continue their job search.

Finally, Capitol has increased its total scholarship funding greatly over the past few years, with an increase of 21% from FY 09 to FY 10, and an increase of 30% from FY 10 to FY 11.

While the headlines may point to the higher costs students are paying to go to college, Capitol is continually aiming to provide an affordable and accessible education to its students. Find out how Capitol may be perfect for you.
