80th Anniversary Speaker Series: Charles Britt

Understanding the Critical Path to Success

Charles BrittCharles Britt is currently a Project Manager and Planner with Northrop Grumman Corporation, a Fortune 500 defense contractor. Mr. Britt has worked in the IT industry for over 10 years working in the areas of technical support, network administration, systems engineering, and information security.

As a result of his motivation to excel and propel his career, he has been afforded the opportunity to work at various corporations and federal government agencies. Beginning with an internship provided by INROADS, Inc. supporting a major missile defense program, Mr. Britt has held various positions of increasing responsibilities with several large corporations and government agencies such as Lockheed Martin Corporation, Science Applications International Corporation, Office of the Secretary of Defense, The White House, and the Central Intelligence Agency. While fulfilling his duties, Mr. Britt has applied his technical expertise to many high profile projects and traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.

Mr. Britt has a long and distinguished record of achievement. His outstanding academic, professional and volunteer work has earned him numerous awards and honors. A partial list of these honors includes State of Maryland Merit Scholastic Award, The President's Educational Award, and being nominated International Who's Who in Information Technology. He was also featured in the June 1996 issue of JET magazine for his academic accomplishments by the Carl Rowan Foundation, founded by the renowned journalist the late Carl Rowan Sr.

Mr. Britt actively participates in numerous technical, non-profit and professional organizations. He is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers, New Light Leadership Coalition, National Urban League, American Management Association, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. His leadership roles have included co-Chair and Founder of the Capitol College Student Council; President, NSBE – Capitol College Chapter as well as President of the NSBE Washington, DC Professional Chapter. Mr. Britt is a firm believer in giving back to the community and as a result he currently serves on the Board of Directors and advisory councils of many organizations including the Capitol College Alumni Advisory Board, ITT Technical Institute School of Information Technology Advisory Committee, Board of Directors - NLLC, Inc., and Chair of the Prince George’s County Public Schools Science and Technology Program Advisory Council.

Charles Britt is a highly sought after speaker, mentor, panelist, and workshop presenter in the Washington, DC area. His insightful workshops and speeches on topics such as the “Digital Divide,” self-motivation, community empowerment, and youth leadership have inspired many youth and adults alike. Having spoken and presented at several conferences, colleges and other events, he is considered by many to be one of the next most influential African Americans in America. Most recently, his strong desire to assist in the development of the next generation of technology and engineering leaders moved him to form The Millennial Group, LLC., a consulting firm specializing in building and nurturing strong partnerships between educational institutions, corporations, philanthropists, and other non-profits who support and provide programs which expose youth to STEM careers.
