Capitol College kicks off its yearlong commemoration of its 80th anniversary with the launch of its special celebration website.

The 80th anniversary section of the college website provides a brief history of the college, a slideshow of historical photos, a calendar of events and a guestbook for friends and alumni to share their favorite Capitol memory.

In January the college began publicizing its anniversary with the unveiling of a special logo. The college is also introducing new events and activities that it anticipates becoming annual events.

The monthly speaker series brings alumni and industry experts to the campus for casual seminars on current event topics. The first seminar is on Feb. 14 by alumnus Laura Dugan, who will discuss the importance of good writing for those in the engineering and technical professions.

Other events scheduled for the year include

• A spirit week for students, faculty and staff
• The launch of the new Innovation and Leadership Institute
• A Friday night reception before commencement for students graduating from the master’s program
• A founder’s day celebration
