Capitol College Earns Prestigious 2010 Gold MarCom Award
LAUREL, MD (May 25, 2011) – Capitol College has earned the prestigious 2010 Gold MarCom Award for the “My Dream. My School,” advertising campaign created in collaboration with The Design Channel.
The Gold Award is given to entries whose ability to communicate puts them among the best in the field and is awarded to projects that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement. The MarCom Awards receive over 9,000 entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, making it one of the largest awards of its kind in the world.
“Capitol is pleased to receive this award as recognition of excellence for the college’s and The Design Channel’s marketing efforts,” Dr. Michael Gibbs, vice president for advancement, said. “The campaign effectively increased Capitol’s brand awareness in a unique and engaging manner.”
The advertisements, which feature various Capitol students saying “Capitol College isn’t for everyone, but it’s perfect for me,” was used in local radio, print and online media. The campaign was designed to enhance Capitol’s brand awareness among prospective undergraduate students, graduate students, and the parents of prospective students. Increased enrollment and institutional support were also objectives of the campaign.
“It’s gratifying to be recognized for creative work,” David Franek, president of The Design Channel, said. “It’s also a tribute to Capitol College who gave us the opportunity and support to create a campaign that engages their marketplace in fresh ways.”
The marketing effort highlighted Capitol’s numerous baccalaureate and graduate degrees, specifically the information assurance and electrical engineering programs. Likewise, Capitol’s “hands-on” learning approach and online class format were prominently featured.
