“I’m pleased at the number of students and companies represented at last Friday’s Career Fair,” said Rosana Lemus, coordinator of career services and graduate student support. “We look forward to strengthening relationships with area companies and providing quality candidates to fill their positions.”

Job seekers had the opportunity to meet with representatives from ASRC Research and Technology Solutions (ARTS), Carr Astronautics, EMSolutions, INROADS, LJT & Associates, Inc., Maden Technologies, MET Laboratories, Inc., Metropolitan Police Department (D.C.), Multivision Inc., Phoenix International Holdings, Inc., ProSync Technology Group, Sidus Data, and Space Telescope Science Institute, among others.

During the Career Fair, two workshops were offered that each provided participants with valuable advice for advancing in their careers. From 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. students and job seekers took part in the “Jobs in the Federal Government” workshop, with presenter Margaret A. Weitekamp from the National Air and Space Museum. From 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Capitol College’s Ken Crockett and Denya Wilson from INROADS lead the workshop “Internships – A Step on the Path to Success.”

“In addition to the career fair, the afternoon workshops were aimed at preparing students for internships and careers with the federal government,” Lemus said. “We are grateful to our workshop speakers who graciously shared their area of expertise.”

Following the Career Fair, Capitol will also offer an additional workshop on Wednesday, March 27, titled “Interviewing Skills.” The session will advise students on how to present themselves professionally during interviews.

Participants in the Career Fair represented a wide variety of major programs, including bachelor’s and master’s in computer/software engineering, electrical engineering, engineering technologies, computer sciences, network security, information architecture, information systems, web development and business.
