Federal Courseware Standards

Capitol College is one of a select few colleges and universities that meet the most advanced level of professional competencies specified in all six federal standards for information assurance curricula established by the Committee National Security Systems (CNSS).

The training standards published by CNSS specify the minimum requirements for properly executing the duties and responsibilities of:

  • Information Systems Security Professionals (NSTISSI-4011)
  • Senior Systems Managers (CNSSI-4012)
  • System Administrators (CNSSI-4013) - advanced level
  • Information Systems Security Officers (CNSSI-4014) - advanced level
  • Systems Certifiers (NSTISSI-4015)
  • Risk Analysts (CNSSI-4016) - advanced level

The content of Capitol’s master of science in information assurance degree program is “mapped,” or matched, to the requirements of all six standards including the advanced levels where applicable.

The Courseware Evaluation Program assesses the degree to which colleges, universities, and other institutions meet all of the elements of a specific training standard with a designated set of courseware. Institutions with courseware certified under this program may issue certificates to students, certifying them as trained to a particular standard.
