




Events of recent years highlight the stark reality that the United States and its critical infrastructures are at risk. Today, we face a growing list of threats intended to interrupt or stop our way of life. More skilled and aware security professionals are needed to address these evolving threats. The CICPC offers a suite of specifically tailored courses for current and future managers and security professionals in recognizing terrorist activities and developing adequate strategies designed to mitigate the threats we face as a nation. The Homeland Security and Anti-Terrorism program offers courses and certificates in homeland security and critical infrastructure protection. Focus is placed on homeland security and defense, asymmetric threats to global security, homeland security law and intelligence, and inter-agency and homeland security operations.
Homeland Security and Defense StudiesCertificate – an analysis of homeland security and defense, including an introduction to transnational asymmetric warfare, an in-depth study of the USA Patriot Act, and a detailed examination of the challenges associated with bringing numerous federal agencies and activities together to perform effectively as one body.
Strategies for Effective Homeland SecurityCertificate – an analysis of homeland security and defense, including an examination of U.S. capabilities to affect timely, accurate, and credible global communication to combat and defeat terror, a study of four terrorist organizations (Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Tamil Tigers), and a cross-national examination, comparison, and assessment of homeland security and defense strategies.
Transnational Terror StudiesCertificate – an examination of psychological effects of terror attacks, including an introduction to transnational asymmetric warfare, a study of four terrorist organizations (Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Tamil Tigers), and an analysis of how terror organizations can and sometimes morph into legitimate political entities (Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Irish Republican Army are studied further).
